Navigable Canal at Blue Cay Estate is Now Open

Two years after the vision of Blue Cay was born, the canal – the centerpiece of the unprecedented waterfront community – the canal at Blue Cay Estate is now open and in use.

When Windward Development Company first began to conceive the idea of a unique yachting community, it envisioned a turquoise canal that would provide homeowners with convenient access to the best yachting grounds the Turks and Caicos has to offer, as well as a way to explore the uninhabited nearby cays.

Blue Cay Estate is located in Leeward, which is a prime water sports location on the northeastern tip of Providenciales. The community’s new canal links it directly to the Leeward Channel, easily connecting residents to premier yachting, fishing, bone fishing, and diving areas surrounding Providenciales and the unspoiled beauty of neighboring cays that can also be enjoyed via jet ski, kayak, and paddle board.

Creating the canal was a challenging undertaking which involved a number of different specialty contractors as well as marine development experts. While designing and constructing the canal, close attention had to be given to every detail to ensure that stringent environmental guidelines set forth were followed precisely.

Development of the 14.5-acre property began only two years ago. The canal was built down the center of Blue Cay and a two new stretches of beach are being constructed to create twelve canalfront properties and four beachfront homes. The recent opening of the canal, making it a navigable body of water, was a monumental occasion for Windward Development, Blue Cay Estate and the existing homeowners.

Designed to be a community tailor made for water sports enthusiasts, each of its sixteen home sites has a dedicated boat dock. The concept of a managed community in which each homeowner has their own boat dock right on their doorstep is extraordinary and unique to TCI.

And that very concept has been a resounding success. To date, four families have moved into their completed canal-front homes and have been utilizing their private docks for kayaking, boating, paddle boarding, and jet skiing. 3 more owners will be moving in over the next weeks.

The beachfront at Blue Cay Estate is in the final stages of completion which is targeted for early March. 

Completion of the entire community is expected in the first half of 2019. Currently, only three homesites remain available for sale – two canalfront and one beachfront location.
